We would like to commend the County Governor of M\u00f8re and Romsdal for facilitating the relocation of our five sites. This enabled a strategic placement that helps prevent the spread of lice. The combination of data-driven decisions and a strong lice management strategy has allowed Hofseth to achieve excellent results, with a mortality rate of just 6 percent. The average in Norway in 2023 was 17 percent. Raudbergvika \u2013 A Unique Opportunity<\/strong>
\nSunnylvsfjorden, where Raudbergvika is located, is part of Storfjorden in Stranda and Fjord municipality. Hofseth has worked for many years on a land-based facility in the abandoned mines here, and the location is a unique “kinderegg” that is difficult to find elsewhere. First, we are utilizing an existing industrial area \u2013 a former scar on nature \u2013 instead of using untouched nature. The fjord is deep, with constant and strong currents of temperate water from the Gulf Stream. In addition, we have access to a stable power supply from the region’s largest power producer, which is located nearby. This region is also a global hub for technology development in aquaculture. Together, we will develop the world’s most sustainable salmon farming facility in Raudbergvika.<\/p>\n

Advantages of Land-Based Farming<\/strong>
\nLand-based farming prevents salmon lice and transmission to wild salmon. At the same time, waste and feed leftovers can be converted into valuable resources, such as biogas in closed facilities. Land-based farming promotes good fish health. Trials at Salmon Evolution in Indre Her\u00f8y, north of Storfjorden, clearly demonstrate this. The project in Raudbergvika will use even more natural fjord water flow. Raising salmon in a controlled land-based system stops lice and reduces the risk of disease. Fish thrive best when they can eat and grow in peace. With a strong focus on fish health, we will take the experiences from fjord-based farming and carry them into the new land-based facility in Raudbergvika.<\/p>\n
